Introduction

Welcome to Strategies.

Until now we have focused on you, and Texas Hold‘em from your point of view. Now we are looking at the game as a whole, and at your opponents. It is very important to understand how they play, and why. As soon as possible, try to map out your opponents and find out how to play against them, one by one.

When you have passed the test at the end of this subject you can proceed to Psychology.

Showdown
In a contested hand a player must show all cards in the hand face-up on the table to win any part of the pot.

Slow Play
Under-betting a strong hand in order to lure other players into calling.

Draw
Situation in which a player needs one card to complete a poker hand.

Value Bet (Bet for Value)
The maximum bet you think your opponent will call.
